These plates are commemorative, riffing off the classic commemorative plate that your grandma might have collected of the Queen, however these plates are stranger as they depict women who lead singular lives and dealt in serious magick.
Rosaleen Norton, was an Australian witch who lived in Sydney, she started making serious magickal art in the 1930s and passed into the other state in 1979. She created hundreds of fantastic drawings and paintings and travelled in trance states to connect with gods like Pan. She dedicated her magical practice to the Great God Pan because he was transgressive and Rosaleen was incredibly transgressive too. She had arched eyebrows and great “bad” teeth. Her magickal name was Thorn.
