In each piece, XO & The echo, a curious finger reaches out to poke the surface of the painting, setting off a chain of events.
In XO, acidic yellows and greens spread over mirrored forms, and we stand above, gazing down into a candy colored oil slick. As body and reflection attach and separate, a small black abyss opens up on the right, that aching gap between self and image.
Both of these pieces are driven by sensations of titillation and longing, each caught in an ever repeating loop of reaching out to touch yourself and getting in your own way.
